How to force the wifi router to connect at full speed in case when the devices connect to the router at a reduced speed

Well it,s sometimes painful for tech guys when their devices do not connect to their wifi router at the top available speed. (54/1501/300Mbps or whatever the router speed is). Well if you are interested to know the reason behind this, you can check here.

To overcome this problem, you need to make some minute changes to your router. For this you need to access the settings interface of your router and select the router mode. Generally its under the section Wireless > Mode or wireless mode options. In most common routers, there may be options like
11b
11g1
1n or
11b/g/nThe default is 11b/g/n. But here you have to force your router to not slow down to 802.11b or 802.11g speeds. So you have to select 11n or 802.11n option and apply the settings. After this, all your devices will connect with the router at full speed when full signal is available. But please note that some devices may stop connecting or working with router after this configuration. Switching back to automatic mode or 802.11b/g/n mode will resolve this.

Additionally you can select Channel Width to the maximum value available or Sometimes the "Auto" mode serves best results for this. Update this setting in both your Laptop and theRouter.
